The United Arab Emirates is taking part in the Interpol 80th General Assembly with a delegation led by Major General Khamis bin Suwaif, Director General of Criminal Security, Minister of Interior.

The four-day meeting (31 October - 3 November) which brings together some 630 police chiefs and senior law enforcement officials from 142 countries began in Vietnam, Hanoi.

The gathering has addressed a number of issues including a report on the Interpol’s activities and programs in 2011, the Interpol’s budget of 2012, approval of the agenda, and discussions on new requests by countries wishing to join the Interpol.

The delegates will discuss the topics listed on the agenda which includes a seminar on fair play and prevention of game manipulation, boosting of the Interpol’s legal principles, and establishment of partnerships to maintain security and prevent crimes.

The UAE delegation includes Colonel Ali Salim Al Khayyal, Director of International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), MoI, Colonel Salim Khalifa Al Rumaithi, deputy director of Criminal Investigations in Dubai Police, Major Mubarak Al Khaili, of the Interpol’s Department, Major Tariq, of General Directorate of Finance and Support Services, and Major Dr. Rashid Al Nuaimi, Human Rights Department, MoI.
