Abu Dhabi Police carried out a successful drill on evacuating UAE employees and students following the outbreak of fire, as per the scenario. The rescue team provided first aid to a number of victims and transferred them to Tawam hospital.

The mock operation started when the Operations Room received a tip off on the outbreak of a fire. Immediately, Emergency and Public Safety Department and Civil Defense teams rushed to the ‘scene’ within the acceptable response time.

Rescue teams evacuated the University employees and students to a safe location, while firefighting teams extinguished the ‘fire’ before spreading to other areas. The Red Crescent, in coordination with the Community Police and Women Police provided logistic and psychological support to  people affected by the incident, and those present on the “scene”. A mobile hospital was set up on - site to tend to injured persons; while severe cases were transferred to the nearby hospitals.

Sirens went off when the fire broke out; safety guides evacuated the University students and employees, pending the arrival of Emergency and Public Safety Teams.

The drill aims to assess the processes of rescue and fire extinguishing adopted by competent entities; evaluate their members’ response efficiency, and measure the degree of coordination between them to face such incidents.
