A vehicle driven by a 20-year old Emirati citizen burned to ashes on Friday afternoon in the area of Al Nabaq in the city of Al Ain. No injuries were reported.
Lt. Colonel Rashid Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Director of Civil Defense Department in Al Ain, explained that the Department received notification at around 4:45 in the afternoon. A Civil Defense team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Al Darmaki added that the vehicle was parked in the high dunes area and burned completely; pointing out that the rugged location impeded access of civil defense teams to the vehicle. “Firefighters were forced to use small vehicles and handheld fire extinguishers to put out the flames and contain the fire, within 15 minutes of arriving at the scene.
Al Darmaki noted that investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the fire. Moreover, he appealed to young individuals to exercise caution during their inland excursions, and to check the validity of the car and tires. He also called on them to avoid adding illegal modifications and accessories on their vehicles, to preserve their lives and the safety of others.
