Al Ghwaifat border exit in Al Gharbiyah region received 32,930 visitors during 24-28 October 2012. Saudi nationals were the largest proportion of visitors who arrived for Eid as their number reached 16,445 visitors.

Major Rashid Hamdan Al Naqabi, Vice Head of the Al Ghwaifat Exit, said: “Visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries were estimated at 26,193 people, which stresses that the UAE is an attractive tourism destination for our brothers in Gulf countries and residents of the GCC in general.”

Major Al Naqabi said that the exit undertook all required procedures to handle any traffic jams that might occur as the visitors come from nearby countries to spend the Eid holiday in the UAE.

He added that the exit offers high quality of services, and has contributed in accomplishing transactions quickly and facilitating their movement through the exit, with active participation of partners and police and security forces.

He stressed that this was accompanied by preparations to received pilgrims who were returning from Hajj; the exit started receiving these visitors since Monday.
