The Abu Dhabi Police’s Air Wing Section announced that its air surveillance aircrafts will be carrying out patrols over the cities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region over the course of the week. The air patrols aim at monitoring the internal and external roads, particularly at peak hours, in addition to other times, determined by the Central Operations Room.
Brigadier General Pilot Ali Mohammad Al Mazroui, Director of the Air Wing Section stated that the Section is operating at least nine air patrols per week, equally divided between Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.
Furthermore, he explained that the aircraft crew comprises two pilots, one air physician and a thermal imaging device operator. He pointed out that the operator transmits direct and live images to the Central Operations Room or the Operations Room at the Air Wing Section during the mission. It is noteworthy that communication between the airplane and the Operations Room is carried out through the TETRA device, which easily directs the aircraft to the accident location, according to coordinates provided by the Operations Room. The thermal imaging device ensures efficient night air patrols.
He concluded that the presence of a physician on board of the aircraft during a mission ensures a rapid response in the event of serious traffic accidents, to transfer the injured to hospitals.
