Lt Colonel Mubarak Bin Meheroum, Director of the Community Police Department, Abu Dhabi, discussed with Nobuo Ehara, Japanese Consul at the Japanese Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the means of cooperation between the community police of Abu Dhabi and its Japanese counterpart.
Bin Meheroum briefed the Japanese Consul on community policing and systems used in applying it, and the criteria upon which individuals can be selected to work in this field. He also provided a detailed description of community policing sections and stations that have been created in residential areas as part of the foot patrolling units; to provide police and community services for members of the community.
He also made a presentation about the Community Police and Police Sciences Institute and the training courses it provides to police, community and private agencies.
For his part, Japanese Consul expressed admiration for the system and the development of community police at Abu Dhabi Police, pointing out that the aim of the visit is to get acquainted with the efforts of the community police and to hold comparison between the two countries, as well as to exchange experience and learn about the system followed by the community police department with regard to creating small neighborhood police stations known as (kōban).
