Abu Dhabi Traffic Police implements Awareness Program for Children
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police organized a traffic awareness program at Al Ibtihal Kindergarten in Abu Dhabi. This program is in line with the strategy to instill a positive traffic culture in children since early age.
Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section in the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police stressed the importance of raising traffic awareness for children by familiarizing them with traffic rules. He also explained how collaboration between schools and police will help increase compliance and discipline among children making positive traffic behavior second nature for them in the future. He reiterated that when such behavior is acquired at a younger age, it becomes an ingrained habit.
Lt. Colonel Al Ameri noted that the Al Ibtihal Kindergarten children participated in the awareness program enthusiastically. It was presented in a simplified manner by First Sergeant Aisha Al Alawi and Policeman Ahmad Al Bloushi from the Relations Department. The program focused on the risks of playing behind vehicles and riding bicycles in the street; it also instructed children on how to board and descend from a school bus.
The program also educated children about traffic sign colors and the importance of sitting in the back seats of vehicles. Furthermore, the directorate organized awareness competitions and distributed gifts for the children.
