The Traffic and Patrols Department at the Abu Dhabi Police organized traffic awareness programs in coordination with the Saaed Association for the Prevention of Traffic Crashes. These programs include lectures to boost traffic awareness among motorists and students through the Abu Dhabi Traffic Program to Reduce Traffic Accidents called “Together.” These lectures come in observance of the Arab Traffic Week, which is held under the slogan: “My Safety, My Responsibility.”

Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Amri, Chief of Public Relations Section in the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, noted on the occasion of the Arab Traffic Week that five lectures had been organized. Four of those lectures targeted students and included practical training on the safe way to cross the road and an introduction to traffic lights. They were also educated on how to board and descend from a school bus safely. Moreover, a lecture was organized for truck drivers, which educated nearly 30 drivers working for the Baynunah Company, about abiding by traffic laws.

Lt. Colonel Al Amri reiterated that traffic safety is a joint social responsibility for all segments of society. Motorists must abide by traffic laws and pay attention on the road. They were specifically warned against using their mobile phones while driving. Moreover, motorists were told to fasten seatbelts, avoid overtaking from the shoulder of the road, and to maintain sufficient distance between vehicles. They were also instructed to observe speed limits. He also urged pedestrians to cross streets safely by using designated crossing zones to avoid becoming the victim of a run-over accident.
