The Abu Dhabi Police and the Civil Defense rescued two Asian window cleaners from falling from the 15th floor of a building on Al Salam Street, after one of the ropes broke from a glass-cleaning scaffold, on Monday evening.

The Security Media Photographers spotted the accident and captured the workers’ rescue operation.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Amiri, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Emergency and Public Safety Directorate, stated that the Operations Room received a call on the break of a glass-cleaning crane on the 15th floor of one of the buildings in Al Salam Street and that two terrified Asian workers were on board.

“The Rescue teams immediately started communication with the workers. They reassured them through the measures they took to fix the crane to prevent it from swaying,” he added.

He added: “Rescue team immediately started talking to the workers, and assured them that all necessary precautions were being taken by fixing the crane to prevent it from swinging. They explained to the workers how to fix the crane with the rescue ropes to prevent it from falling, and finally managed to get them down by mobile ladders.”

Captain Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Customer Service and Public Relations Department in the Civil Defense General Directorate urged companies to perform a periodic maintenance for the building’s cleaning cranes in order to ensure its durability for the safety of the users and the general public.
