The 23rd Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Annual Meeting for Bone Diseases and Injuries organized by the international Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Society (MUSoc) continued into its second day of activities.  The event, held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi, is sponsored by the Medical Services Department of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ as a platinum sponsor.

The first session, delivered by Dr. Marnix van Holsbeeck, M.D., Henry Ford Hospital, USA, featured a work paper tackling an important aspect of shoulder joint diseases: the shoulder impingement syndrome, which occurs when there is impingement of tendons or bursa in the shoulder from bones of the shoulder. This is a common cause of shoulder pain for many patients.

Dr. Jose Antonio Bouffard, M.D., Detroit Medical Center, USA, gave a detailed explanation on the diagnosis methods to identify different cases of shoulder impingement and means to treat them quickly and efficiently.
The work session was followed by ten hands-on workshops that provided doctors with training skills on diagnosis using ultrasound (ultrasonography).

The 23rd annual meeting continues tomorrow, Friday, with two work sessions to examine work papers scheduled on the agenda, in addition to hands-on training workshops targeting the participating physicians.
