The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate distributed awareness booklets and brochures, urging motorists to reduce speed; leave a safe distance between vehicles; exercise caution; and refrain from driving recklessly, during foggy and low visibility conditions.
Major Mohsen Bakheet Al Menhali, Chief of External Roads Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, called on motorists on external roads to adhere to the basics of safe driving, particularly during extreme weather changes prevailing in this period of the year, such as rain and fog formation on coastal and internal areas, which causes low visibility.
He also called on motorists to avoid overtaking in such conditions, particularly with low horizontal visibility, which may lead to collision accidents.
As part of the Fog Awareness Initiative launched by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, in coordination with the Security Media Department, he advised motorists against the risks of stopping vehicles on the road, which could lead to run-over accidents from other vehicles due to low horizontal visibility.
