Al Dhabyaniah Committee at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi spread awareness among female staff on ways to combat cervical cancer during an awareness lecture held under the title “Re Think”. The lecture was delivered in the Emirates Neutralization, Residency and Ports Institute by Dr. Rashidah Muhammad Abbas (Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant) from Medical Services Department in Abu Dhabi Police.

The lecture comes in line with the vision of Al Dhabyaniah Committee aiming to promote the concept of spreading medical culture among female staff in the department through raising the level of preventive awareness in the field of countering cancerous tumors, and reminding them with the importance of taking the required vaccines and treatments of this disease.

She noted that cervical cancer is the second type of cancer that women suffer from globally, saying that the cause of the disease is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) which includes 15 types that are responsible for this disease.

She explained that there are several factors that cause this disease such as smoking and the weakness of the immune system among others.

Concluding, Dr. Rashidah answered a number of questions from participants.
