17 caravans catch fire in Abu Dhabi; Civil Defence teams bring it under control
 

Abu Dhabi Civil Defence teams have brought under control this morning a fire that broke out on 17 portacabins in Al Oushosh area of Abu Dhabi.
The caravans are used as workers’ housing. No injuries were reported.

According to Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Shehhi, Acting Director- General of Civil Defence, firefighters from Ghantout and Al Samha civil defence stations immediately rushed to the scene on receiving a tip off by the police operations room.

Teams contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other caravans.

The cause of the fire has not yet been identified, and no injuries have been reported among workers, he added.

He stressed on the need for public safety precautions to be taken in residential unit, and advised that much attention must be paid by residents of these portacabins to facilities or habits which could trigger a fire such as gas cylinders, electric connections and lit cigarette butts
