According to the Traffic Coordinating Committee at the Ministry of Interior, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 18.9% during the first 9 months of the current year;compared to the same period in 2012 at the countrywide
The Committee had held its seventh meeting for 2013, at the Traffic Coordination GHQ. Brigadier General Gaith Hasan Al Zaabi, Director General of Traffic Coordination Department at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Committee chaired the meeting, which was attended by all the Committee members.
During the meeting, attendees discussed the traffic status, and adopted the minutes of the previous meeting. They also discussed the issue of small motorcycles and their resulting accidents, injuries and deaths, due to non-compliance with security and safety requirements, and proposed the appropriate solutions to curtail this issue.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed the registration mechanism of trailers and semi-trailers manufactured locally or imported; stressing the need to make sure that the trailer complies with the legal size and weight, according to the standard specifications and laws adopted in the State.
