Seven-hundred male and female supervisors and school bus drivers benefited from the awareness campaigns organized by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, and the Traffic and Patrols Divisions in the Al Gharbiyah Region and in Al Ain.

Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Amri, Head of the Public Relations Division at the Directorate said: “Topics related to spreading awareness among supervisors and drivers included checking the readiness of buses and providing safety equipment, in addition to acquiring knowledge of first aid and related procedures that are used at accident sites, and spreading traffic awareness among participants and the community-at-large on how drive with consideration towards school buses by slowing down and stopping while the bus picks up and drops off students.”

He said that awareness campaign is aligned with the beginning of the new educational year and with the return of students to schools in order to promote their safety. The aim is to ensure an educational year free of accidents.

He explained that children are the most vulnerable category in terms of accidents, adding that schools and families must play a major role in promoting traffic safety concepts to children and educating them about the rules of walking in the streets and the right way to get on and off buses.
