The Air Wing Department of Abu Dhabi Police organized a training program for 80 trainees from nursing and emergency departments at the Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. The program focused on acquainting staff with the best means to approach an aircraft, the delivery and reception of sick and injured individuals in cases of different incidents.
Captain Ahmed Al Ameri, Operations Officer at the Air Wing Department, gave a lecture explaining the best means to approach an aircraft; allowed areas to approach; how to avoid the dynamic thrust forces of the engine, and how to approach a helicopter on uneven ground.
Al Ameri accompanied trainees to the hospital’s runway where they attended a practical demonstration on how to deal with aircrafts. He also gave them a detailed explanation on how to approach the aircraft after receiving approval from its pilot, and noted that the aircraft should be approached by curving the back. He stressed the need for ambulances and paramedics to be standing outside the yellow box dedicated for the aircraft, in addition to how to receive sick and injured individuals.
The participating medical staff was divided into four groups, of 20 trainees each, in the training course which spanned over 4 days.
