An accident in a construction site of a Mosque at Madinat Zayed in the Western Region resulted in the death of one Asian worker and the injury of 17 workers, 16 of which are Asians and one is Arab (so far). The workers suffered from minor to moderate injuries.

Colonel Ojail Ali Abdullah, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, explained that the Operations Room received notification of a roof collapse accident at a construction site of a Mosque at Madinat Zayed in the Western Region earlier this evening. The Civil Defense teams, the Emergency and Public safety Department were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they evacuated the site and provided first aid to the injured workers before transferring them along with the dead worker to Madinat Zayed Hospital in the Western Region. 

The Colonel stated that the accident left one Asian worker dead and 17 injured, 16 of which are Asians and one is Arab. He added that the quick intervention of the concerned teams and the way they dealt with the accident on site prevented the death of more workers after the roof collapsed.

He also confirmed that investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the accident.
