The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate announced the installment of a new radar on the Abu Dhabi - Al Ain Road, next to the Abu Dhabi University. The new radar which will be operational as of tomorrow Saturday is part of the efforts to reduce traffic accidents and their resulting deaths and injuries.

First Lieutenant Marzouq Saeed Al Zaabi, Director of Roads Surveillance Branch at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, indicated that the speed limit control of the new radar is 140 kilometers per hour, pointing out that the speed limit on the streets is 120 kilometers per hour.

He said that the installment of the new radar comes in line with the traffic safety comprehensive plan, to increase the numbers of computerized control devices to curb traffic law violators, and achieve highest levels of traffic safety on internal and external roads in the Abu Dhabi Emirate.
 
Concluding, Al Zaabi pointed out that the new radars will catch motorist who fail to leave safe distance between vehicles, overtake on the hard shoulder of the road, or violate the legal speed limits. Moreover, he called on motorists to adhere to traffic laws and designated speed limits, to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users.
