The Victims Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Police recently celebrated the graduation of the fourth practical application course on Disaster Victim Identification (DVI). The one-week course was held at the Crime Scene Department Headquarters and was attended by 18 officers and non-commissioned officers from the various departments across the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, as well as a delegation of police officers from the sisterly country of Bahrain.

The course included several topics, designed to hone the practical and applied skills of trainees in identifying disasters’ victims. It also focused on acquainting participants with the relevant data and procedures; as well as the international protocols applied by the International Police Organization (Interpol). The course also provided trainees with accurate information regarding the guidelines for use in the identification of disaster victims.

Major Raed Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Victim Affairs Office, indicated that the UAE government strives to maintain the safety of lives and property through commitment to implementing a national response plan during crises and disasters, and enhancing readiness, qualification and training.

The ceremony was attended by Captain Mohammed Ruzaiq Al Menhali, Deputy Chief of the Crime Scene Section representing the Crime Scene Department; along with First lieutenant Abdul Rahman Saif Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Victims Affairs Office and First Lieutenant Adnan Ali Al Hosani, Training Branch Manager,  both representing the Victims Affairs Office.
