The Abu Dhabi Police arrested a driver, a farmer and an illegal resident, who traded opium in Al Ain City. In a professional operation, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was able to confiscate more than one kilogram of the illegal substance, together with drug pills, after luring the gang into an ambush in which the police bought the drugs for 25,000 AED.
Colonel Sultan Suwayeh Al Darmaki, Chief of the Anti-Drug Section at CID, said: “we received confidential information recently at the Anti-Drug Section at CID in Al Ain. The tip indicated a suspicious criminal activity run by a gang. Once the tip was confirmed, we set a well-planned ambush to arrest the gang members together with their illegal substance.”
He added that the anti-drug forces surrounded the gang, arrested its members and confiscated the drugs.
“The gang members were identified as S.A (driver, 45 years old); Sh.O (farmer, 58 years old); and A.Gh (illegal resident, 41 years old). They confessed to the confiscated drugs and said they had it for consumption, circulation and trade. The gang and the drugs were referred to the concerned authorities,” Al Darmaki explained.
