The Civil Defense teams managed to extinguish on Thursday, a fire that broke out in an apartment, located on the fifth floor of an eight-storey building in Al Falah Street, Passport Road in Abu Dhabi. No injuries were reported.

Captain Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, Chief of Customer Service and Public Relations section at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Abu Dhabi indicated that the Operations Room received notification at 12:15, on the outbreak of a fire. Civil Defense teams from the Al Bateen, Al Mina Road and Al Madina stations in Abu Dhabi were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they managed to extinguish the fire and evacuate all residents. Also present were Traffic patrols and ambulance teams.

Al Tamimi added: “Teams were divided into two groups. The first group worked on containing the flames to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building; while the second group evacuated the burnt apartment’s residents, using escalators”. Moreover, Al Tamimi noted that both operations were carried out successfully, and investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the fire.

Captain Tareq Al Obaidli, Head of Civil Defense operations in Abu Dhabi, supervised the operation.
