As part of the new courses spanning over two weeks, the Al Ain Civil Defense Institute started training the civilian personnel working at the public and private institutions in firefighting, fire prevention and first aids.

Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Saqer Al Suwaidi, Director of the Civil Defense Institute, explained that organizing the course, which includes theoretical lectures and practical training, embodies the strategy of the Civil Defense’s higher command designed to communicate with public and private institutions, and community members in general, by spreading preventive culture awareness. This reflects positively on reducing fire incidents and the pertaining accidents, death toll and material damages.

Al Suwaidi added that having qualified and trained personnel, with a good knowledge of civil defense practices, prevention and safety, in public and private institutions is a first line of defense to fight fires and accidents, as they help to contain the fire and address it efficiently and professionally until the arrival of civil defense forces; thus reducing the resulting damages.
