Colonel Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi, director of Al Wathba correctional and punitive institutions department, recently met with Vivian Austen, British Consul to UAE, and Melhem AL Zouhairi, British Embassy Delegate, in line with the Department’s keenness to coordinate with different diplomatic entities and inform them on the affairs and conditions of their national inmates.
Colonel Al Zaabi welcomed the visiting delegation, expressing his pleasure for the communication and mutual coordination between the two parties. He also gave the delegation a brief presentation on the rehabilitation programs, humanitarian services and social care provided to the inmates.
Austen reviewed the affairs and conditions of the inmates, and expressed her appreciation for the efforts and services provided for them. She commended the UAE’s remarkable role in providing care, rehabilitation and good treatment for the inmates, and expressed her thanks to the Punitive Institution’s administration and personnel for the hearty welcome and earnest will to cooperate. At the end of the visit, Al Zaabi presented a commemorative shield to the visiting delegation.
The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ahmed Al Khayal, Head of Al Wathba Penal and Correctional Institute, and Lieutenant Sultan Mohamed Al Neyadi, Head of Rehabilitation Division.
