In its fourth meeting held at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, the General Assembly of Al Faraj Relief Fund at the Ministry of Interior adopted the new organizational structure project of the Fund. The project stipulates setting up new committees to facilitate and develop work.

Furthermore, the General Assembly endorsed the Fund’s financial statements report for the fiscal year 2012. It also approved the nomination of Brigadier Mohammed Rashid Al Shamsi, as Deputy Chairman of the Board. The meeting discussed a set of proposals for the development of the Fund's work.

The meeting was attended by members of the Fund’s Board of Directors, namely; Colonel Abdul Hakeem Al Suwaidi; Colonel Mohammad Al Zaabi; and Colonel Dr. Salem Khamis Al Yamahi; along with members of the General Assembly.

It is noteworthy that the Fund aims to confirm the modern concepts with respect to the role of the punitive reformatory establishments; settle outstanding financial issues between the inmate and the plaintiff, pay the civil debts laid upon insolvent inmate, and pay the blood money (Diya). It also aims to ensure a decent life for the inmate's family, promote the spirit of solidarity and social cohesion, and provide the necessary financial support to help inmates’ families.
