The Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police trained housewives on the basics of handling emergencies including first aid procedures and mending injuries.
The department is carrying out the “Ambulance and Society” program to educate housewives in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The program aims to increase society’s awareness of first aid, in order to enable its members to interfere in cases of emergency, as the first ten minutes of injuries are considered to be the most critical.
Major Batti Al Mazroui, Head of Ambulance Department, said: “The program includes lectures and practical training for housewives on how to treat accidents and illnesses of children at home such as: simple burns, cuts, suffocation, fever, the swallowing of solid materials or choking, bleeding, and fractures. Housewives will also learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for all ages at home.”
“The program’s team, which includes female members from the ambulance industry, is carrying out field visits to houses and women societies, to train housewives and women in general on emergency skills and introduce them to the correct ways of dealing with injuries, in order to handle emergency situations until the ambulance and the medical team is at the scene,” he added.
