The Abu Dhabi Police Emergency and Public safety Department carried out a successful drill on evacuating hotel guests, and extinguishing a “fake” fire that broke out in the hotel’s kitchen.
According to the training scenario, the Operations Room received a notification on the incident. Immediately, Emergency and Public Safety Department teams rushed to the scene, within the acceptable response time.
Sirens went off when the fire broke out; safety guides evacuated the hotel guests and employees, pending the arrival of emergency and public safety teams.
Rescue teams evacuated the hotel guests to a safe location, while firefighting teams extinguished the fire before spreading to other areas. They also rescued a staff member and provided him with first-aid, before transferring him to the hospital.
Lt. Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Emergency and Public safety Department director, stated that the drill aims to evaluate the speed of response of rescue and ambulance teams to accident reports; identify their readiness; and evaluate their members’ efficiency in all processes of rescue and fire extinguishing.
