A lecture on the DNA
The Office of Victims Affairs at ADP has organized recently a lecture on the DNA. The lecture was delivered by Lt. Colonel (Expert) Maryam Ahmed Al Qahhtani, Head of Bio-criminology Section at the Department of Forensic Evidence. A number of the Office of Victims Affairs officers and employees were present during the lecture. Department of Selection and recruitment, Projects engineering Department and Purchasing Department employs were present as well.
The lecturer spoke about the[formation of the DNA, its definition and date of its discovery by the British Explorer Jeffry. How this discovery assisted in detection of many mysteries in Britain.
She explained how the DNA obtained through (Saliva, tissues, teeth, bones blood etc...), from the victim body or crime scene to solve cases, ANA helps in proving the biological parents, rape and homicide crimes. Britain was the first ever country had used the DNA in criminal investigations..
Then she spoke about the implementation of these techniques in the UAE and the set up of world-class specialized centers and laboratories for the DNA purposes.
