The Western Region Police Directorate assured its readiness to ensure the Tel Meriab Festival 2012 and to inform members of the public of the police services.

"The Directorate will conduct a campaign to educate the public about the safety measures to be taken during camping and picnicking  and ways to utilize the police services especially  ambulance and rescue services", said Brigadier Hamad bin Saeed bin Terias Al Dhaheri, director of the Directorate.

He urged those interested in camping to adhere to general safety measures to ensure their safety and that of others. They should get information about their camping area and report about their whereabouts in the desert to be easily contacted if they got astray.

He also called on the members of the public to deliver possible information to the visitors and help them arrive to the venue. They are also called to guide the visitors to the police stations at the towns to take the necessary information they need.

Security patrols have been formed to help everybody during the days of the festival, he noted.
