13 police officers from Sharjah Police attended the first practical application course for identifying disaster victims. The course aimed to address the challenges faced when identifying victims of disasters. It was organized by the Victims Affairs Office at the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) at the General Directorate of Police Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, in cooperation with the Officers Training Institute and the Crime Scene Village in Ajman.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Major Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Victim Affairs Office and Lieutenant Adnan Ali Al Hosani, Training Branch Manager.
The course was taught by Steve Sergeant, victim identification expert from the Victims Affairs Office of the Crisis and Disaster Management Department. It tackled several topics, namely; the data and procedures related to international protocols that are implemented by Interpol; practical application of the Interpol guidelines; and application mechanisms in the United Arab Emirates.
The participants also carried out practical exercises and practiced using the equipment and tools for Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) and other related subjects.
