Um Al Quwain Civil Defense Organizes Sporting Day for the Public

The Civil Defense Department of Um Al Quwain organized an athletic, social and educational event to acquaint community members of all age groups with the firefighting and rescue operations and the duties of firefighters. The event, held on “Al Bayt Mitwahid” Corniche, included individual and collective athletic competitions that tested the public’s fitness and endurance.

Colonel Hassan Ali bin Sorm, Head of the Civil Defense Department in Um Al Quwain said: “Such activities contribute to develop the collective spirit, and encourage sports as a healthy lifestyle. They also contribute to acquaint the public with the tasks and duties undertaken by the Civil Defense staff members, positively encourage the social and sports movement, as well as strengthen the ties and communication between community members and build trust and cooperation with the police.”

Colonel bin Sorm honored the participants, and extended his thanks and appreciation for all those who contributed to the success of these sporting events. He also promised to turn these activities into a regular activity to be organized by the Civil Defense Department, in cooperation with the local partners and the public, given the wide participation.
