Two killed and nine injured in Abu Dhabi car pile-up

A five-vehicle collision on Taweelah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi on Tuesday resulted in the death of two people and left nine others injured.

All of the victims of the collision were Indian.

“The collision occurred because the motorists were speeding, and there was not sufficient distance between the vehicles,” said Mohsen Al Menhali, head of external roads section at the directorate.

The victims who sustained moderate to light injuries were rushed to the nearby Al Rahba Hospital after the accident, while the two bodies were transported to the appropriate departments.

Al Menhali called upon all motorists to abide by traffic regulations for their own safety and those of other road users, particularly because of the greater volume of vehicles on the roads during Eid.
