Police target parking violations

 

Motorists urged not to occupy slots for rescue vehicles and disabled people 

 Motorists have been warned against wrong parking by the traffic and licensing department following a sharp increase in the offence during the last year.

 A report has shown a big increase in violations in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs

Last year compared to 2003. According to the traffic and licensing department the tickets issued last year for wrong parking increased by 15 percentage compared to the same period in 2003.

 Major Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Director of safety and public relations department said drivers needed to change their attitude towards parking and safe driving. Newly introduced Ministry of Interior regulation will increase the fines for parking in spaces set aside for ambulances, fire engines and the disabled which will come in to force from next month, he said.
