MoI participates in the Global Environment Initiative (Earth Hour)
In response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, MoI will participate in the initiative of reducing climate change "earth Hour". The activities started at 20:30.
The ADP Directorate General of Central Operations, in collaboration with the Environment Authority, organized an awareness workshop at the Forensic Evidence Department Conference Room, on Thursday. It was part of MoI participation in global environment initiative (Earth Hour). Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, a number of ADP Officers, experts and interested persons were present during the workshop.
Dr. Mohammad Yusuf Al Mudfaai, from Environment Authority, Expert Ronny Flanair from the Diwan of HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Air Expert Norman Wallonce from Strategy and Performance Development Department and Major Fayssal Mohammad Al Shamari, MoI Spokesman and General Coordinator participated in the workshop.
Al Raisi said "These positive individual and collective initiatives contribute to reduction of energy consumption all over the world. The UAE always launches initiatives that prevent global warming escalation".
The workshop discussed the importance of energy consumption rationalization, in order to preserve environment. This could be done through reducing emissions resulting from energy production, to reduce carbon dioxide and preserve Planet Earth.
Expert Joy explained the possibility of making use of thermal survey technology by thermal cameras in use by ADP helicopters. The cameras could depict any clear thermal cloud in cases of air leakage from buildings or water from pipe networks to reduce energy waste.
Major Al Shamari said "MoI always seeks to be in the lead and an example for customers and the public. The culture of energy rationalization is a collective responsibility and a national duty. ADP has launched a website on this occasion under the name (OUR EARTH). Studies have shown that UAE residents' consumption of natural resources exceeds other world residents".
ADP urges nationals and residents to switch off lights, air conditions and different electric appliances in participation of "Earth Hour" Initiative. All concerned are kindly requested, on this occasion, to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in order to reduce global warming.
Hundreds of millions of earth population participated in the Third Earth Day. Residents of four thousand cities in 88 countries switched off unnecessary lighting units to announce their support Earth Planet Rescue Efforts.
