Abu Dhabi Police participated in the eighth Symposium on Forensic Techniques and DNA, which took place in the Cuban capital, Havana, with the participation of 14 countries from the various continents. On the sidelines of the Symposium, which spanned over four days, seven working papers were discussed during a workshop held in this regard.
Lieutenant Maryam Ahmad Al Qahtani, Head of the Criminology Department and head of the delegation, noted that Abu Dhabi Police delegation gave a presentation about Abu Dhabi Police’s achievements in general, stages of development of the Forensic Evidence Department and how it earned International accreditation. Moreover, the Symposium discussed means of collecting and analyzing evidence and samples from the crime scene; crime scene investigation procedures, and other related topics.
Al Qahtani added that the delegation visited the forensic laboratory in Havana, where it was briefed on the nature of work and procedures used in police and security work.
In parallel, the Director General of Havana Security Police called on Abu Dhabi Police’s delegation to support collaboration between ADP’s Forensic Evidence Department and the Havana laboratory, in order to benefit from Abu Dhabi Police’s expertise, which earned it International accreditation in the field of Forensic Evidence.
