A comprehensive security scenario was recently conducted by the Security Scenarios Department at the Security Support General Directorate at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in coordination with the Police College. The drill was carried out by the cadets of Batch 26 in order to ensure the highest levels of readiness by introducing them to the means of leadership, control, and procedures for security events.
Lt. Colonel Dr. Saif Salem Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Director of the Security Scenarios Department, stressed that the scenario embodies the keenness and commitment of the police leadership and the Interior Ministry to develop the training and qualification methods for its staff. He said that this is accomplished by carrying out comprehensive and state-of-the-art security scenarios in accordance with the highest international standards.
The scenario falls within the framework of finding solutions for the various challenges that the participants may face throughout their policing careers by engaging with experts and specialists in the field of police work.
“The scenario for the Batch 26 cadets was carried out in coordination with the Police College and the competent authorities,” said Lt. Colonel Dr. Saif Salem Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi. “The cadets received individual training over a time span of two months, where they received field training in the use of force in order to ensure their levels of readiness.” With the aim of transforming theoretical knowledge into practical application, he also said that the comprehensive scenario was carried out with the participation of all of the cadets in order to promote the process of transferring and exchanging knowledge and expertise.
In field training, the cadets were trained in various aspects for managing security events through the promotion of their competencies and skills and through the development of their abilities. This includes how patrol members handle an armed attack; the methods for arrest and control; how to prioritize and mobilize forces accordingly; an introduction to the use of the appropriate tools; and the means in which to handle hazardous materials. The scenario also included raids and arrest operations; defusing explosives; searching with police dogs; the means of searching for evidence; and the ways in which to collect, record and examine evidence.
