The Al Ain Highways Section of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police carried out a mock drill to extinguish a fire that erupted at the Section’s facilities, the individual and patrol residences, as well as the vehicle confiscation yard. The drill was held in cooperation with the Civil Defense Department and the Al Ain Emergency and Public Safety Section, to measure the response readiness to such incidents.
The mock drill evacuation scenario was launched on Monday, with an 8:30 am notification about the fire to the Al Ain Operation Room. The alarms went off and the Section’s Emergency Team evacuated employees from the building while the Civil Defense and Ambulance teams reached the site of the incident. The evacuation plan was executed according to the scenario; the relevant police and supporting parties moved immediately and reached the site of the incident in record time.
Major Matar Abdullah Al Muhairi, Acting Head of Al Ain Traffic Section and Leader of the Field Drill, pointed out that this drill is part of the function of the environment, health and occupational safety system at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. He revealed that the drill also complements all of the various activities and services provided by the General Headquarters.
He then added that Abu Dhabi Police is working to implement a number of procedures to prevent the impacts of crises and catastrophes, in addition to executing governmental protection programs and preserving natural resources and protecting the police personnel. He stressed their eagerness to forge partnerships between the various governmental and private sector entities, to follow up on the development and execution of such initiatives.
Major Nasser Khuwaitem Al Ameri, Director of the Civil Defense Center in Al Ain (Al Aqabiyah Branch), emphasized the eagerness of Al Ain Civil Defense Department to organize mock drill evacuation operations through visits to facilities interested in this. He also tackled the importance of evaluating the facilities’ adherence to prevention and safety requirements. He said that this would be followed by the formation of an emergency team for each facility and their readiness for evacuation, as well as providing them with the required lectures on the topic.
“This series of procedures aims to guarantee the evacuation drill success and to evaluate the experience. This aims to enhance the strategic goals of the Ministry of Interior to protect lives and properties, as well as increase social awareness,” he concluded.
