The Benchmarking Center in the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior (MoI) discussed the center’s new operational plan for 2016 during a workshop organized by the center for this purpose.
The workshop reviewed development opportunities by applying best international practices to carry out benchmarking for all departments. The workshop also addressed governmental requirements and established performance comparisons for parties affiliated with the MoI according to best international practices.
Lt. Colonel Mubarak Al Kaleeli, Director of the Benchmarking Center, stressed the importance of improving the work system, strengthening institutional performance development, and engaging workers in the implementation of operational plans. “Developing and preparing staff members to keep up with and promote the concept of benchmarking is one of the key success factors to foster a culture of strategic thinking across different police departments,” he noted.
He said that such benchmarking contributes to the development of strategic projects and institutional performance. This is done by comparing their performance with the best performance indicators from organizations on both the local and international levels, to draw the best applied practices and skills; thus promoting the improvement of the ministry’s performance metrics.
The workshop also discussed ways to provide police departments with facilities that could improve their performance and cooperation with the best pioneers on the international level, to facilitate exchanging knowledge with them, and improve the ministry’s performance metrics.
The workshop also included suggestions from participating employees to discuss opportunities for improvement, including taking advantage of partnerships with specialized companies in the field of benchmarking on a global level. The workshop also included requests for benchmarking in 2016, and discussion of MoI and Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters strategic initiatives. A presentation on the achievements of 2015 also took place.
