A delegation of jurists from the Military Justice Directorate affiliated to the Armed Forces General Command visited the Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The visit falls in line with the mutual visits program aimed at exchanging scientific knowledge and expertise, and reflects ADP’s commitment to reinforce cooperation with all state institutions and strategic partners.

During his meeting with the visiting delegation, Brigadier Mohammed Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Head of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the importance of communication with governmental institutions and entities, and the need to exchange expertise, views and visits, to get closely acquainted with the existing fundamentals and systems of work, and the appropriate mechanisms to upgrade them for the sake of public interest.

The delegation members had visited Al Wathba Section to identify the administrative and legal applications adopted in the work system. They toured the facility to get an overview of the rehabilitation programs provided to inmates, and to inspect the mechanisms of rehabilitation activities and humanitarian services provided to inmates.

The visiting delegation reviewed the “Labor Market Program” classes, the vocational and technical workshops and the license plates factory. Towards the end of the tour, the delegation visited the training Institute at the Punitive and Correctional establishment.

The visiting Military Justice Delegation praised the services provided by the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at the ADP General Headquarters, as well as the remarkable respect for inmates’ human rights, and its keenness to provide rehabilitation procedures and programs that guarantee the well-being of prisoners and ensure their social reintegration, to encourage teamwork, and provide a healthy interactive environment between prisoners and the department.

Towards the end of the visit, the delegation exchanged commemorative shields and gifts, in the presence of Colonel Atiq Ibrahim Saeed Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General; Colonel Saeed Obaid Al Naqabi, Chief of Al Wathba Section; and Colonel Saad Mohamed Saad, Director of the Training Institute at the Punitive Establishments, as well as a number of officers from the department.
