The Emirates Animal Welfare Society (EAW) will participate in the ‘Protect Me to Protect You’ campaign beginning the month of October in order to promote community awareness about animal welfare issues and the importance of preserving animal life.

According to Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Emirates Animal Welfare Society, the last meeting that was recently held for the EAW witnessed the completion of preparations for a successful campaign that aims to enhance the awareness efforts for animal welfare issues and promoting environmental balance.

“The campaign, which will be launched in conjunction with World Rabies Day, will have a wide range of activities and events including free rabies vaccinations for cats and dogs between 2 and 6 pm,” he said. The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water and sponsored by the Emirates Park Zoo with the participation of the Emirates Animal Welfare Society, K9 Security Inspection Department, and the Emirates Dog Breeders Society.

The campaign will also include workshops and lectures with the participation of many governmental authorities and departments and associations. Special brochures related to animal care and welfare will be distributed in addition to membership applications for those who desire to join the EAW. An environmental seminar was also organized regarding the ways in which to protect wild life.

The Emirates Animal Welfare Society (EAW) is one of the civil society institutions that focuses on spreading awareness about animal welfare issues and about the importance of preserving animal life. The EAW urges for the humane treatment of animals and encourages the public to join voluntary activities related to animal protection and raising public awareness about their role in maintaining an ecological balance that guarantees continuity of life on earth. Treatment convoys also organize to provide care for animals in coordination with specialized healthcare centers and associations. It is noteworthy that the EAW has launched a number of successful media awareness campaigns such as the “Merciless Receive No Mercy” and the “I Need Water Just Like You” campaigns.
