Deal inked to develop criminal evidence lab

The Abu Dhabi Police and UK Forensic laboratory have signed a contract for rehabilitation and development of Abu Dhabi Police criminal evidence laboratory

British Royal Prince Andrew, the Duke of York attended the signing of the agreement between Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior, and Allen Mathews, Communications director, FSS.

The ceremony was held at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police ,was also attended by Abdullah Al Masoud ,Speaker of the National consultative council, Major General Saif Al Shaafer,Under Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and number of Senior Officers.

Prince Andrew, who was on a three day visit to UAE, attended the ceremony in his capacity as the United kingdoms special representative for foreign trade and investment.

During the visit Prince Andrew was briefed on the latest technologies adopted by Abu Dhabi Police, including the iris scan, the unified data base and the e-services. He also visited the criminal evidence laboratory, the DNA laboratory and the anti drug section. He was also briefed on the UAE’S effort to curb the use of child camel jockeys and the robot jockey.

Commending Prince Andrew said that he was delighted to be here to celebrate this first class partnership between the UK Forensic science laboratory and Abu Dhabi Police.

He expressed the hope that this contract would be the beginning of long term relationship between the UAE and Briton
.
On his part Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif said that it was his pleasure to receive the Royal Prince Andrew and brief him on some of our achievements in the Abu Dhabi Police.
