The Abu Dhabi Police’s Center for Security Studies and Research (CSSR) reviewed a study on the leadership competencies in an international conference held in Malaysia.

Major Dr. Omar Ibrahim Al Ali, an official at the CSSR, presented a working paper at the conference entitled "An exploratory study of the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership competencies" in the 3rd International Conference of Psychologists, which was held at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He addressed the concepts of emotional intelligence and leadership competency in police organizations.

The study concluded that there is a strong correlation between the two variables and the ability of emotional intelligence to predict. This correlation is equivalent to 40% of the leadership skills namely decision-making, strategic thinking, problem-solving, creativity, effective communication, flexibility, and leading and motivating others.

The study recommended the design of a training program that aims to develop the skills of emotional intelligence for police leaders.
