The Forensic Evidence Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police organized a five-day workshop on modern methods of DNA analysis. A total of 16 members from Abu Dhabi and Dubai Police participated in the workshop, including experts in the field of DNA.
“The workshop included several lectures presented by American Professor Dr. Bruce Budowle, the world renowned DNA scientist, and Australian Professor Angela specialized in the same field of work”, noted Lt. Colonel (Expert) Maryam Ahmed Qasim, Head of Bio-criminology Section.
The workshop program included scientific information on the basics of DNA enlargement, DNA genotyping, and means of analyzing mixed genetic fingerprint of more than one person, and samples containing a tiny amount of “DNA”. Moreover, practical applications in those areas were conducted during the workshop.
