Seven police dog trainers attended a training course organized by the Security Inspection Department (K9) at the Security and Ports Affairs Department of Abu Dhabi Police. The session demonstrated how police dogs detect drugs.
Major Said al-Kathiri, Chief of Veterinary Services at the Directorate, noted that the training course included theoretical and practical sessions.
A lecture was presented by French experts that focused on the methods of dealing with the dogs, ways of training the dogs to detect different kinds of narcotics, how the dogs locate the narcotics, and how the trainers reward the dogs when they accomplish their missions and obey their trainers.
The participants attended lectures that taught them how to analyze situations, identify priorities, and how to conduct search missions with the dogs in order to locate narcotics.
The graduates attended a number of sessions.
