The Health Education Section organized an awareness lecture at the Rosary School for Girls about breast cancer. This event is part of the outreach activities held by the Medical Services Department of Abu Dhabi Police, and aimed at increasing awareness and preserving safety of society.

Brochures were distributed to attendees providing information about the causes of the disease, its risks and means of prevention, to allow individuals to avoid its causes.

Dr. Afaf Uthman Al Basir, Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist, gave a speech that tackled breast cancer occurrence, its history and incidence in the world. She also talked about early detection through periodic tests using special equipment, such as mammograms and other tests.

Dr. Al Basir recommended routine tests for women starting at age 40, , in addition to self-exams to avoid the occurrence of the disease. She also called upon women to pay attention to any changes that occur in their bodies and to see a doctor regularly.

Upon conclusion of the event that witnessed a significant turnout, Dr. Al Basir answered the audience’s queries. Educational brochures were also distributed about the means of breast cancer detection.
