‘Read with us’: New Initiative at the Capital’s Traffic Department
The Capital Police Directorate’s Traffic Department has launched a new initiative under the theme ‘Read with us: Donate a Book’. The initiative falls in line with the National Strategy for Reading and allows staff members and partners to donate a useful book for the work team.
This annual initiative is supervised by the Strategic Planning Section at the General Directorate of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police.
Colonel Hamad bin Athath Al Ameri, Head of the Capital’s Traffic Department, noted that the work team will collect the donated books and will display them in the library at the General Directorate’s training halls. This approach aims to promote reading as an ‘Institutional Culture’ and an ‘Interactive Practice’ that would achieve the ambitions and strategic vision of the reading challenge. He said: “The initiative has a significant social dimension, and will build on the concerted efforts of staff members to encourage a reading and knowledge culture, in line with the National Strategy for Reading.”
Lieutenant Abdullah Haran Al Nuaimi, Director of the Initiative, explained that a number of steps were established to achieve the initiative’s objectives, commensurate with the program titled ‘The Path towards the realization of the Vision’. He also noted that the process to build the necessary knowledge base, which promotes the reading culture, includes a number of specific practical steps.
It is worth mentioning that the initiative will focus on instilling positive behavior in staff members and motivate them to donate useful books to the General Directorate. The Educational Convoys will tour the different departments, and seek their participation in the initiative, via a host of lectures that promote reading.
