UAE “Dog raising Society" is announced
 
 
 
As a pioneering step in the field of animal protection and its welfare, HH  Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior has directed that a society for dog raising is to be set up at UAE level. The society shall be supported with necessary services, training and health care. HE Mariam Al Roomi, Minster of Social Affairs has issued the Ministerial Decision No. 3338 for 2008 announcing the set up of the society.
 
Lt. Col. Jamal Jumaa Hhabash, Head of Police Dog Section at ADP, Chairman of the society has stated that this society is the first of its kind in the region. The set up of the society reflects civilized concepts and the clear vision of UAE communities towards prevention of cruelty to animals particularly dogs. In addition to the role played by dogs in guarding tasks, they assist now in detecting narcotic drugs, explosives and fire arms, when they get the required training.
 
The offices of the society will be located at the Police Dog Section; the society will provide dog raisers with advice and guidance. Dogs Owners will be issued with ID cards.  Directives and vision of His highness will help to prevent cruelty to animals and encourages the public to treat their animals in a good way. The society will also launch awareness campaigns and programs.
 
Lt. Col. Jamal Jumaa Hhabash was given the honorary chairmanship of the Hungarian dogs racing society two years ago. There are 30,000 members all over the world and he is the only one Arab national to get this membership .His Highness Sheikh Saif had honoured him for his achievement.
 
UAE is the first Arab country in the region to have police dog breeding facilities and veterinary clinic similar to that of the developed countries.
