A delegation from the Security Support Department at the General Directorate of Security Support, the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, examined the variety of methods to handle dangerous incidents, and major events, as well as the proper process to take operational decisions during their visit to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in the United States of America (USA).

Major Hasan Al Shehhi, Head of the Training Section at the Security Support Department, explained that members from the delegation met with Captain Philip S. Fontanetta, Commanding Officer, Emergency Operations Section at LAPD. They reviewed the Security Support’s experience and ways to handle security-related events and scenarios They also exchanged expertise with the LAPD and were acquainted with ways to handle dangerous police operations, via documented footage of realistic events.

Captain Philip S. Fontanetta praised the experience of the Security Support Department in addressing the different dangerous policing operations professionally and efficiently, as well as the speed of response that reflects the high level of professionalism of the UAE police, their extreme readiness and the efficiency of their members.

A team from the Security Support delegation also participated in the field operations of the LAPD patrols at various locations around the city. They also participated in the operations carried out by the air support patrols, as well as the speed of response to incoming reports and notifications received by the Operations Room. The Security Support team also participated in surveillance operations and clampdown campaigns, in addition to arresting wanted criminals and outlaws.
