Police to regulate traffic to ensure Haj pilgrims safety
The traffic and patrol department in the Abu Dhabi police has decided to post cops on the highways round the clock to ensure the safety of pilgrims traveling by road to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj.
Police patrols will be posted along the road leading to Al Quwaifat border check point, where many buses carrying Hajjis coming from northern emirates and sultanate of Oman pass through.
According to Colonel Gaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director of traffic and patrol department, traffic patrols will monitor vehicular traffic, provide assistance to pilgrims and attend vehicles breakdowns on the way of exit check point of Al Quwaifat.
He called on the bus drivers not to over speed in order to avoid accidents and make their journey safe till they reach the holy land.
Major Mohammed Al Mazruwai, section head of the comprehensive patrols at the department urged the bus drivers to abide by the traffic rules and take precautionary measures while driving, particularly during the late night and early morning hours.
He also advised the drivers to be more careful while driving when the visibility is poor and also avoid overloading of their vehicles and thoroughly check their vehicle for its air pressure and other important accessories.
