More than 40 percentages of Nationals involved in traffic accidents

Three people were dead and 51 others injured in various traffic accidents last week in Abu Dhabi.

Among the total traffic accidents occurred during 17 to 23 December, the percentage of nationals involved in traffic accidents reached 40. There were two major accidents, 7medium and 13 minor accidents, sated Colonel Khamees Iseque, deputy director of the traffic and patrols department at the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police.

The major causes of these accidents, he said was due to over speeding and showing no respect for traffic signals and regulations. There were 553 cases of over speeding more than double the limits and 5370 other speed violations.

He said that the department is taking all the necessary actions to create awareness among people for the need to obey the traffic rules and adopt various safety measures while driving. If the motorists adapt to good driving habits most of the accidents could be avoided, he added.
