International security exhibition to flag off from today

His Highness Lt. Gen. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior, will inaugurate the ISNR Abu Dhabi Exhibition today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

ISNR (International Security National Resilience) is taking place 2-5 March, 2008 under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces.

The show and conference are dedicated to homeland security products and services, and is of great interest to the governments and the private sector in the region, organizers say.

Brigadier Matar Salem Bin Mesayed Al Neyadi, Chairman - ISNR Abu Dhabi Organizing Committee, said the ISNR global series was conceived only last year, and was launched in London in December 2007.

"The inaugural Abu Dhabi edition is only the second ISNR exhibition in the world. The show has attracted strong participation from governments in the region and the global security industry and promises to be very informative and interesting for delegates. We also expect international exhibitors to gain new insights about the local and regional market," he said.

"The success of this show would not have been possible without the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed of the show, and the active support of Sheikh Saif. The UAE Ministry of Interior's guidance and support have been instrumental in receiving wide local, regional and international participation," Brigadier Al Neyadi said.

ISNR Abu Dhabi is organized by Reed Exhibitions Middle East with the support of the UAE Ministry of Interior and will feature 147 specialist companies from 20 countries displaying a range of equipment and technology aimed at counter terrorism, intelligence and threat assessment, border and transport security, critical infrastructure protection, emergency preparedness, and crisis management and response.

Occupying 13,400 square meters of gross space, the exhibition will feature four national pavilions from the US, the UK, Switzerland and Germany. Exhibitors from 16 other countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Lebanon, France, Bulgaria, Norway, Austria, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, India and Singapore will also take part.

Official delegations from Italy, France, Lebanon, Yemen, Egypt, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Tanzania, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Iraq and Qatar will attend the show.

The delegations are expected to be led by top officials such as the ministers of interior, chiefs of defense and security, and heads of national security organizations, and include senior officials involved in the development, selection and procurement of security systems and equipment in their respective organizations. Ministers from Bahrain, Lebanon Iraq and Afghanistan have confirmed their participation.

Over 8,000 trade visitors including officials from the interior and defense ministries from the region, staff involved in management of security and emergency planning for ports, airports, borders, urban transport systems and government facilities, and facilities directors are expected to attend.
